There are many legendary cricketers who failed to win even a single ICC ODI Cricket World Cup Trophy but there are a few fortunate cricketers who won the World Cup trophy without even representing their team in an actual game. These players were included in the squad but did not get a chance to play. However, despite that walked away with a glory which many legendary cricketers have longed for.
1. Collins King
Collins King was part of the 1975 World Cup winning squad of West Indies. Unfortunately, he did not get a single game in the side led by Clive Lloyd. Despite that he is a World Cup winner.
2. Malcolm Marshall
Surprise! The legendary fast bowler from West Indies, Malcolm Marshall did not get even a single game for his team in the 1979 ODI World Cup. It is hard to believe that Marshall won a World Cup without even playing.
3. Sunil Valson
A forgotten Indian cricketer in the history books, Sunil Valson is a ICC ODI Cricket World Cup winner. He was part of 1983 World Cup winning squad led by Kapil Dev. Unfortunately for Valson he was the only cricketer who did not play a single game for India.
4. Marvan Atapattu
Former Sri Lankan skipper, Marvan Atapattu did not play a single match in the 1996 ODI World Cup which was won by his team Sri Lanka.
5. Russel Arnold
Russel Arnold was also in the squad of Sri Lanka that won the World Cup trophy in 1996. Unfortunately, the pacer did not get a single match in the tournament.
6. Nathan Bracken
Nathan Bracken once ruled the every bowling chart in his career. However, the Aussie pacer did not play a single match in the 2003 ODI World Cup winning team captained by Ricky Ponting.
7. Nathan Hauritz
Nathan Hauritz suffered the same fate as his fellow pacer Nathan Bracken in the ICC ODI Cricket World 2003. He won the trophy without even getting a game.
8. Mitchell Johnson
Mitchell Johnson is an Aussie pacer who threatened everyone with his quick pace for a very long time in his career. However, Johnson could not play a single game in the World Cup winning campaign of Australia in 2007.
9. Brad Haddin
Australian wicketkeeper batter, Brad Haddin did not get to play a single match in the 2007 ODI World Cup.
10. Tom Curran
Fast bowling all-rounder, Tom Curran did not get a single match in 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup which was won by England under the leadership of Eoin Morgan.
