England has been dealt a major blow with another player injured less than two weeks before the first Ashes Test in Birmingham.
England’s top spinner, Jack Leach, has been ruled out of the Ashes series due to a stress fracture in his lower back (lumbar). The left-arm spinner experienced symptoms during the one-off Test against Ireland earlier this week at Lord’s, and scans confirmed a stress fracture.
England will name a spinner replacement for the crucial Ashes series, which kicks off the next ICC World Test Championship cycle.
3 Best Replacements for Jack Leach in Ashes 2023
1- Moeen Ali
The right-arm off-spinner Moeen Ali who is also known for his big-hitting abilities is the frontrunner in the race to replace the injured Jack Leach in Ashes 2023. According to recent reports, Moeen Ali is seriously considering a Test return, and you are most likely going to see him as the replacement for Jack Leach.

2- Dom Bess
With 14 Test caps and 36 wickets, he learned the game as Leach’s understudy at Taunton. He lost confidence during his last international stint, and his game appears to have plateaued somewhat since moving to Yorkshire. This season, he has taken nine wickets in four Division Two matches.
3- Liam Dawson
A trustworthy individual with over 15 years of first-rate experience. Although he is a regular member of the England squad across all formats, he has only three Test appearances to his name. Although not a mystery spinner, he may be the closest like-for-like replacement for Leach. He could provide useful relief for the seam attack as a solid left-armer who could hold an end and bowl long spells—an underappreciated batter and fielder.
