Yuvraj Singh was player of the tournament in the World Cup winning campaign of the Indian Team in 2011. He contributed with both bat and ball in the event and was the biggest reason behind India’s success. Yuvraj was struggling with the affects of cancer during the 2011 ICC ODI World Cup but that did not stop him from giving his best for the Indian Cricket Team. Yuvraj has represented India in three World Cups from 2003 to 2011 and played quite a few influential knocks. This article covers some of the most memorable innings of Yuvraj Singh in ODI World Cups.

Top 5 Yuvraj Singh Innings in ICC ODI World Cup

1- 57* off 65 vs Australia, ICC ODI World Cup 2011 Quarterfinals

Chasing 261 in a must win game against Australia, India was 143/3 in 28.3 overs when Yuvraj Singh arrived on the crease. He was in excruciating pain due to the cancer but did not gave his wicket away. Gambhir and Dhoni departed quickly from the other end but Yuvi continued his assault on the Aussie bowling up. Ultimately, India won the match and Yuvraj Singh was named player of the match for his all-round performance.

2- 113 off 123 vs West Indies, ICC ODI World Cup 2011

Yuvraj Singh was a force to reckon with in the 2011 World Cup. He single-handedly won India the league stage match against West Indies. Yuvi smashed 19 fours and 2 sixes in his innings of 113 runs. India managed to score 268 runs. Yuvraj Singh also picked two wickets to help India win by a huge margin of 80 runs. This match between India and England went to the last ball and ultimately the game was tied. Andrew Strauss and Sachin Tendulkar smashed centuries for their respective teams. However, Yuvraj Singh’s contribution with the bat was quite significant for India. He helped India reach 338 runs.

4- 50* off 53 vs Pakistan, ICC ODI World Cup 2003

India was chasing 274 to win the match against their arch-rivals Pakistan in the 2003 World Cup. Sachin Tendulkar smashed 98 off 75 to set the tone for Indian chase. Yuvraj Singh took the matters in his own hands and played a substantial knock that helped India reach the target with over four overs to spare.

5- 21* off 24 vs Sri Lanka, ICC ODI World Cup 2011 Final

Yuvraj Singh was the player of the tournament in 2011 World Cup and it was rightful for him to be at end when India lifted the trophy. Mostly, remembered for Dhoni’s unbeaten 91 and Gambhir’s fighting 97, the 2011 World Cup Final match saw significant contributions from Yuvraj Singh and Virat Kohli.
