Zimbabwe Set a Modest Target
Zimbabwe batted first and posted 114/5, which set India a target of 115. Mayers finished unbeaten on 43 and Ndhlovu made 42. The two were the only Zimbabwe batters to pass 40. Nandani was the best of India’s bowlers with figures of 2/11, and Charani took 1/14. Deepti also bowled for India but went wicketless, conceding 22 runs.
India Slump to 19/4 Before the Recovery
The chase started badly. India were 19/4 at one stage, in what was Smriti Mandhana’s first match as full-time captain. Gwanzura did most of the damage, finishing with 3/18.
Deepti and debutant Niki Prasad then rebuilt the innings. The two added 82 for the fifth wicket off 63 deliveries. Deepti hit eight fours in her 49 off 37 balls, and Prasad stayed not out on 39 off 35 balls, hitting the winning boundary. Deepti fell one run short of her fifty, but by then the target was almost in sight. India finished on 116/6 in 15.4 overs, with more than four overs to spare.

What Next for IND-W vs ZIM-W Series?
India lead 1-0 with two T20Is left, and both are in Raipur. The 2nd T20I is on Sunday, October 18, at 7:00 PM IST. The 3rd T20I is on Tuesday, October 20, also at 7:00 PM IST. The tour then moves to the BCA Stadium in Vadodara for three ODIs, on October 23, 25 and 28.
