Hasan Nawaz was the lone fighter for Pakistan in the Asian Games 2026 final against India. Chasing 212 at Korogi Athletic Park in Nisshin, Japan, on October 3, the 24-year-old smashed 96 off 51 balls with five fours and seven sixes, and was out on the very last ball of the match, just four runs short of a hundred. Pakistan lost by 19 runs and settled for silver, but his knock earned praise from fans and experts alike.

Hasan Nawaz Father
Hasan Nawaz’s father lives in Kotla Haji Shah, a small town near Layyah in southern Punjab. His name has not been made public. The family had limited resources, but his father always backed his dream.
After Hasan’s record century against New Zealand in March 2025, his father spoke proudly to the media. “We are incredibly proud of him and grateful to God for this achievement,” he said, adding that Hasan never lost hope despite the family’s limited means. Hasan dedicated that hundred to his father, saying his prayers and support had carried him through.
Hasan Nawaz Mother
Hasan Nawaz’s mother is also from Kotla Haji Shah, and her name is not public either. She made headlines for a very sweet reason. During Hasan’s match-winning century in Auckland, she chose not to watch the match at all.
“I was too afraid to watch the match, fearing that my own gaze might bring him bad luck,” she said.
Hasan Nawaz Siblings
Hasan Nawaz has an elder brother and a sister, and both played a big part in his journey.
Elder Brother
His elder brother supported his move from Layyah to Islamabad. Officially, the move was so that Hasan could focus on his studies, but it also gave him the chance to play proper cricket, which was not possible in his hometown.
Sister
His sister, an engineer by profession, lived in Islamabad and gave Hasan a home when he moved to the city. She drove him to the ground and back every day, especially during his difficult early years. Hasan has said that she “supported me to the hilt.”
Hasan Nawaz Coach and Mentors
Hasan Nawaz did not grow up with a famous personal coach. Layyah had no proper cricket facilities, and he learned the game by playing tape-ball cricket on the streets and sandy grounds of his village. He even paid local boys, sometimes as little as 10 rupees, to bowl to him.
The name of his first coach has not been made public. Coaches at the club level in Islamabad advised him to switch from tape ball to hard-ball cricket and helped him join Lucky Star Cricket Club, where his professional journey began.
At the international level, Pakistan’s then head coach Aaqib Javed backed him strongly after he was out for ducks in his first two T20Is in New Zealand in 2025. Captain Salman Agha and vice-captain Shadab Khan also supported him during that phase, and Shadab had earlier guided him as a mentor at Islamabad United in the PSL.
Hasan Nawaz Cricket Journey in Short
Hasan started his career with Lucky Star Cricket Club in Islamabad and later played for Northern, Islamabad, Pakistan Television and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines in domestic cricket. He made his name in the 2022 Kashmir Premier League, where he finished as the second-highest run-scorer for Mirpur Royals, and was then picked by Islamabad United in the PSL. He later moved to Quetta Gladiators.
He made his T20I debut against New Zealand in March 2025 and, in only his third match, scored an unbeaten 105 off 45 balls in Auckland, the fastest T20I hundred by a Pakistani batter. He made his ODI debut against the West Indies in August 2025 and was named Player of the Match for his unbeaten 63.
