Meanwhile, Steve Smith remained resolute at the crease. Taking advantage of loose deliveries, he showcased sublime form, displaying the arduous task of scoring a century in challenging conditions.

As the game approached the end of the 98th over, Australia’s score stood at 387-5. Shardul Thakur was introduced into the attack, and on his very first delivery, Smith attempted to guide the ball towards the point region but ended up getting an inside edge, resulting in his stumps being sent flying.
