Ashes 2023: Travis Head Challenges Ollie Robinson – “Back Up Your Words with Performance” Ahead of Lord’s Test

Travis Head, the Australian batsman, has issued a warning to Ollie Robinson ahead of the second Test at Lord’s, stating that the English pacer needs to back up his words with performance. Australia emerged victorious in the opening Test by 2 wickets, but Robinson faced severe backlash for his abusive send-off to Usman Khawaja.

Robinson had criticized Australia’s defensive tactics in a press conference and in a column for Wisden, drawing the ire of Ricky Ponting, Matthew Hayden, and Justin Langer. However, Travis Head remains unfazed by the comments.

“England is throwing around some nice words, both on and off the field. But we aren’t concerned. Our goal is to go 2-0 up in the series,” Head asserted in an interview with 9News.

Head and Robinson were teammates at Sussex, and while the Australian enjoys the banter, he has urged Robinson to perform on the field.

“I had a few quiet words with him. It adds to the fun. Things didn’t go his way in the first Test, but he’s a competitive lad. He’ll have to step up, otherwise there might be a few people back home who would want to get on his case,” Head stated confidently.
