In 2015, Starc entered into an engagement with fellow Australian cricketer Alyssa Healy, leading to their marriage on 15 April 2016. Their union is remarkable as they are only the third married couple to have both participated in Test cricket. This exclusive club includes Roger and Ruth Prideaux, who represented England in the 1950s and 1960s, and Guy and Rasanjali de Alwis, who represented Sri Lanka in the 1980s and 1990s. Subsequently, other married women’s couples have joined this unique group: Katherine and Natalie Sciver-Brunt, and Marizanne Kapp and Dane van Niekerk. Mitchell and Alyssa’s connection dates back to their childhood when they were just 9 years old, both serving as wicketkeepers for Northern Districts. An exceptional show of support was witnessed in March 2020 when Starc flew home before the final ODI match against South Africa to watch Healy compete in the final of the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
