World’s largest cricket stadium, the Narendra Modi Stadium, with a seating capacity of 1,32,000 people, was constructed by L&T for the Gujarat Cricket Association. The construction of the world’s largest cricket stadium took place from 2015 to February 2020. It took Rs 827 Crore to build the largest cricket stadium in the world. Earlier it was known as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium, which was originally constructed in 1983. It was then renovated in 2006 and was only demolished in 2015 to convert it into the Narendra Modi Stadium, now known as the world’s largest cricket stadium. It broke the record of Melbourne Cricket Ground in February 2020 to become the world’s largest cricket stadium.

As of 2022, the Narendra Modi Stadium has hosted 14 Tests, 27 ODIs, 6 T20I matches and 2 IPL matches, including the finals of 2022, which 1,01,566 people attended. Here we have covered the making of the largest cricket stadium in the world in 10 photos. Let’s take a look at how the marvellous Narendra Modi Stadium was built by L&T in five years.
