Ramji Singh, Akash Deep’s father, served as a government schoolteacher in Bihar’s Sasaram. In an environment where the Bihar Cricket Association was inactive, opportunities for young cricketers were scarce, leaving Akash struggling to advance his career. Although his father wished for him to pursue exams leading to a government job, Akash remained steadfast in his cricket ambitions. Encouraged to consider roles like Bihar police constable or state government staff, he encountered further setbacks with the sudden passing of his father and elder brother within six months. Akash found himself thrust into the role of family provider, responsible for supporting his two sisters amidst personal tragedy.
Ladduma Devi is the mother of Akash Deep. He was seen touching his mother’s feet after he received the debut Test cap for India on February 23, 2024. His younger sisters were also present at that time.
A close friend extended a helping hand, enabling Akash Deep to join a cricket club in Durgapur to sustain himself financially. He began participating in tennis-ball matches across the Durgapur district, earning approximately 6000 Indian Rupees per day and around 20,000 per month.
In 2010, he seized the opportunity to join the United Club in the CAB first division league, fueling his cricketing aspirations.
