BCCI Central Contract 2025- Comeback for Shreyas Iyer But Ishan Kishan Snubbed Again

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to announce the list of centrally contracted players soon. Shreyas Iyer, who played a key role in India’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 victory as the highest run-scorer, is likely to regain his central contract after proving his worth in domestic cricket. However, it is understood by Sports Tak that Ishan Kishan may not make the cut for the contract.

Both Iyer and Kishan were omitted from last season’s central contract list due to their failure to participate in domestic cricket matches. While Iyer has since excelled in ODIs and made a case for selection in other formats, Kishan has yet to make a sufficient impact to earn his place back.

A source informed, “He still has to wait for his return to the central contracts. Although he has worked on resolving his issues, he hasn’t done enough to regain his spot.”

Meanwhile, India’s ODI and Test captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are expected to retain their A+ central contracts worth Rs 7 crore, despite both players retiring from the T20I format following India’s T20 World Cup 2024 triumph. The source added, “They are key players and will receive the respect they deserve.”

It is also suggested that both players remain part of India’s plans for Test cricket. After the ongoing IPL 2025, India will travel to England for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 campaign, starting with a five-Test series on June 20.

Although Rohit scored just 31 runs across five innings in the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, and Kohli has not crossed fifty after his century in the Perth Test, there were speculations about Rohit’s retirement following his absence from the Sydney Test. However, the seasoned batter has confirmed that he plans to continue playing.
