The right-handed player is an, opening batter currently playing for Nottinghamshire as well as the England cricket team in the white ball, limited-overs formats. Hales was the first player to make the One Day International debut against India in August 2014 and his first Test cricket appearance in a match against South Africa in December 2015. Hales was the very first English batter to make an ODI and a T20I century. He’s also the first batsman to be disqualified with a score of 99 during an ODI and also a T20I. In a brief yet notable stint, Alex Hales joined Mumbai Indians for the final match of the 2015 regular season and the knockout stages, filling in for the injured Corey Anderson. Despite being part of the squad, Hales did not make an appearance. In 2018, he found a spot in Sunrisers Hyderabad, replacing David Warner. Hales made his IPL debut against Rajasthan Royals in April 2018, scoring 45. Despite going unsold in the 2021 auction, he made headlines in February 2022 by being acquired by the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Hales has been a versatile presence in the Big Bash League, showcasing his skills for Melbourne Renegades, Adelaide Strikers, Hobart Hurricanes, and Sydney Thunder. Notably, he emerged as the top scorer for Sydney Thunder in the 2020–21 BBL season.

His PSL journey began with Islamabad United in the 2018 draft. Alex Hales made a remarkable impact in the 2018 season, smashing a record-breaking 87 not out off just 32 balls for Maratha Arabians. Over the years, he has made appearances for various PSL teams, including Islamabad United and a surprise return for Islamabad United’s first eliminator playoff game against Peshawar Zalmi in 2022. Hales was also part of the Trent Rockets in The Hundred during the 2022 season.
