Arshdeep Singh bowled a record 5 no balls in the 2nd T20 against Sri Lanka. He was taken for massive sixes on the free hits which ultimately resulted in the loss for India by 17 runs. In his short career Arshdeep has already became the Indian bowler with most no balls in T20 internationals.
Hardik Pandya in the post match presentation said, “Both bowling and batting – powerplay hurt us. We made basic errors which we shouldn’t do at this level. Learning should be the basics we can control. You can have a bad day but shouldn’t be going away from basics.”
He further added, “In this situation, it’s very difficult. In past as well he’s bowled no-balls. As a captain, I believe you can’t give away freebies. Going for runs is fine but no balls aren’t. Not blaming but he (Arshdeep) needs to go back and make sure these basic errors don’t happen at this level. It’s not about blaming or to be too hard on him but no ball is a crime.”
However, it seems that Indian cricket team management wants to stick with Arshdeep Singh in the 3rd T20 against Sri Lanka. Rahul Dravid, the coach of Indian cricket team has said, “we’re not chopping and changing too much for the final T20i.”
