The first test of The Ashes 2023 between England and Australia started on Friday, June 16. Ben Stokes will lead the English side in Ashes 2023, meanwhile Pat Cummins will be the captain of Australian side.

Cummins delivered a flawless yorker to dismiss Pope, showcasing his skill and precision. Although Root, Stokes, and Brook made valuable contributions for England, none of them managed to reach the significant milestone of 50 runs. Australia’s bowlers, Lyon and Cummins, were in fine form and took four wickets each, ultimately dismissing the hosts for 273.

In Australia’s response, Warner and Khawaja displayed confidence and aggression with the bat. Warner appeared threatening with the new ball, but unfortunately, he fell to Robinson’s wide delivery. Stuart Broad then took the center stage, showcasing his mastery in swing bowling. His deliveries created anticipation and excitement, resulting in edges from the bats of Smith and Labuschagne.

Following Warner’s dismissal, Boland took on the role of the night watchman, while Khawaja held the innings together, much like he did in the first innings. Going into the final day, Australia had seven wickets remaining and required 174 runs for victory. Despite Australia’s strong batting lineup, the match hangs in the balance, with any outcome still possible.

Ben Stokes-led England are coming of a win against Ireland in a one-off Test, while Pat Cummins-led Australia are also coming of a win against India in the ICC World Test Championship Final. Both teams will carry the confidence gained from their previous wins into their upcoming encounters. Here in this article, we have covered everything you need to know about the Ashes 2023 England vs Australia 1st Test weather report for day 5.
