The second Test match of the Ashes series is set to begin at Lord’s on June 28th, and Australia will be looking to start afresh. In the previous match, it was skipper Pat Cummins’ crucial knock of 44 runs that helped the team secure victory. Cummins has proven to be an effective captain, leading the bowlers with great tactical acumen.
Australia may consider making a tactical change by bringing back the lethal left-arm fast bowler Mitchell Starc. Starc’s sheer pace and angles can pose a serious threat to the opposition batting lineup, and he can also contribute with the bat.
On the other hand, England’s decision to include the inexperienced pacer Josh Tongue in the playing 11 could be a surprise move. Playing four seamers may backfire for the hosts, especially with the absence of Moeen Ali due to a finger injury.

There is a possibility of a more competitive wicket at Lord’s compared to the flat surface in the opening Test. Captain Ben Stokes will need to manage his workload carefully to avoid any further injury setbacks for the team.

During an interaction with Hindustan Times, Jason Gillespie expressed his belief that Pat Cummins might consider rotating himself towards the end of the series. Gillespie also stated that Steve Smith is more than capable of leading the side in Cummins’ absence.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Cummins rotates himself, especially towards the end of the series with back-to-back Tests. They have confidence in Steve Smith’s leadership abilities, or even Alex Carey. Australia has enough depth in their bowling lineup,” said Gillespie.
The workload of Cameron Green, who also contributes with his bowling, will play a significant role. If Green bowls as few overs as he did in the first Test, it will increase the workload on Cummins and the other bowlers, according to Gillespie.
