The Ashes 2023 series has been a captivating battle between England and Australia, with both teams striving to gain an early advantage in the first Test at Edgbaston. Despite being targeted by the English batsmen, Australian veteran Nathan Lyon has remained composed, taking crucial wickets, including that of Joe Root in England’s second innings.
As the fifth day of the Test match approaches, it holds significant importance in determining the outcome, with England defending their total and Australia aiming to chase the target.
During a press conference, Nathan Lyon was asked about how he maintains the condition of his fingers, considering their significance for an off-spinner. The journalist even mentioned the unconventional method used by English legend Graeme Swann, who claimed to put his fingers in a jar of urine for preservation. In response, Lyon humorously declined to share the details of his own finger care routine, stating that he wouldn’t disclose what he does in his hotel room.
“Yeah, I do have some tips. But I don’t have to tell you what I do in my hotel room. So… let’s leave it at that.”
As the final day of the Test match unfolds, the game hangs delicately in the balance. Australia faces the challenging task of scoring 174 runs to secure victory and take a 1-0 lead in the series. England, boosted by Joe Root’s century in the first innings, managed to maintain their advantage as their bowlers stepped up, preventing Australia from surpassing their total.
