Ashwin to Surpass Zaheer and Ishant’s Records; Requires This Number of Wickets Against Bangladesh

A two match Test series will be played between India and Bangladesh in the month of September. In this series, Ashwin has a golden opportunity to leave Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma behind.

Ravichandran Ashwin is the second-highest wicket-taker for India in Test cricket. His carrom ball is unmatched and he bowls very deadly on spin pitches. Whenever Team India plays at home, he proves to be very effective for India. For the last decade, he has been making a significant contribution to Team India’s victory at home. Now the Indian team has to play a two-Test match series against Bangladesh, which will be held at home. The first match of the series will be played on 19 September.

Ashwin has so far taken 23 wickets in 6 Test matches against Bangladesh. He is currently the third highest wicket-taker among Indian bowlers against Bangladesh. Zaheer Khan has taken 31 wickets in Test matches against Bangladesh and Ishant Sharma has taken 25 wickets. Now in the Test series against Bangladesh, Ashwin will overtake Ishant Sharma as soon as he takes three wickets and Zaheer Khan as soon as he takes 9 wickets. If Ashwin succeeds in doing so, he will become the Indian bowler to take the highest number of Test wickets against Bangladesh.

Ravichandran Ashwin made his Test debut for India in 2011. Since then, he has taken 516 wickets for Team India. He has 3309 runs to his name in Test cricket, which includes 5 centuries. He has taken a total of 156 wickets in ODI cricket and 72 wickets in T20 Internationals.
