The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has revealed the schedule for the Asia Cup 2023. The tournament will feature six teams competing against each other, with a total of 13 matches being played. In a hybrid model, four matches of the Asia Cup will be held in Pakistan, while the remaining nine matches will take place in a neutral venue, Sri Lanka. This format allows for a combination of matches hosted by both Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
There was a disagreement between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding the hosting of the 2023 Asia Cup. BCCI President Jay Shah declined the invitation for the Indian team to visit Pakistan. This disagreement escalated, but it was eventually resolved, and the Asia Cup will be played using a hybrid model.
It’s worth noting that India is set to host the World Cup at the end of this year. Initially, Rameez Raja, the former chairman of the Pakistan Board, refused to allow Pakistan to compete in the World Cup. However, the issue was resolved in a subsequent meeting.
