The Asia Cup 2023 will have a unique format, with matches being played in both Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Pakistan will host games in Multan and Lahore, while Sri Lanka will host matches in Colombo and Kandy. This marks the second time Pakistan is hosting the tournament, the first being in 2008, while Sri Lanka last hosted it in 2010.
India, as a nominated team, will play all their matches in Sri Lanka. The tournament’s opening match will take place in Multan on August 30, where Pakistan will face the debutant team Nepal. India’s first game will be against their traditional rivals Pakistan on September 2 in Kandy.
The current champions, Sri Lanka, will kick off their Asia Cup 2023 campaign against Bangladesh in Kandy on August 31. Meanwhile, Afghanistan will face Bangladesh in their opening match in Lahore. Interestingly, there is a chance that India and Pakistan could potentially meet three times in the tournament if they progress to the playoffs and the final stages.
