As the World Cup 2023 approaches, India is getting ready for the major event and considering the Asia Cup 2023 as an important rehearsal. The team is eagerly awaiting updates on the fitness of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, who will undergo fitness tests this week. A final decision about their participation will be made based on their fitness status. The Asia Cup 2023 Squad, led by Ajit Agarkar, is set to be announced by Monday, once there’s clarity on the availability of these two players.

Despite the positive progress in KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer’s fitness updates, Ajit Agarkar has advised Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma to prepare for the Asia Cup 2023 without relying on these two star players. While in Barbados with the squad, Ajit Agarkar and Salil Ankola discussed Asia Cup combinations and squad selection with Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid.

The main focus is on the fitness of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer for the Asia Cup 2023. Currently, it seems that they will be fit to participate in the tournament. Both players are expected to take part in the Asia Cup camp, which is planned for August 24-29 at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, where they will join the rest of the team.

Even though the deadline to submit the Asia Cup squad is August 15, there’s a chance of making changes later with approval from the technical committee. Since India’s match against Pakistan is set for September 2, adjustments can still be made within the 7-day period before the game. This timeframe aligns with the camp dates, allowing some flexibility for necessary modifications if needed.
