The ongoing dispute over the schedule for the Asia Cup continues without a clear resolution in sight. Even though the new Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) administration has agreed to the hybrid model, they are now seeking a higher revenue share from the Sri Lanka leg of the Asia Cup 2023. The PCB is requesting a revenue share equivalent to what the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) received from the UAE for hosting the T20 Asia Cup last year.
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has organized a two-day meeting in Dubai, scheduled for Sunday and Monday, with the purpose of discussing and finalizing the schedule for the Asia Cup. It is worth mentioning that Pakistan, despite being the original hosts, will only have the opportunity to host four matches.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka will host a total of nine matches, including the final, as well as two highly anticipated India vs Pakistan games in Dambulla. These IND vs PAK matches are expected to generate significant revenue, and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is keen to secure a larger share of the revenue from these matches.

“It has already been finalised that Pakistan will only host Asia Cup matches as a host nation while the rest of the event will be held in Sri Lanka. The important thing is how much Pakistan gets as revenue to host remaining matches in Sri Lanka,” a PCB source told The News, Pakistan.
The proposal to have the second leg of the Asia Cup hosted in the UAE was turned down by all other participating nations due to concerns about the extreme heat experienced in the country during September. If the UAE had been chosen as the venue, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) would have had the opportunity to earn more from gate receipts, advertising hoardings, and marketing ventures. However, the decision to prioritize the comfort and safety of the players led to the rejection of the UAE as a potential host for the second leg of the tournament.
