Asia Cup 2023: UAE to Host Instead of Pakistan?

Asia Cup 2023 hosting venue has become a topic of hot discussion since Ramiz Raja said last year that if India does not travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023, then Pakistan will back out of the upcoming 2023 World Cup scheduled to be played in India.

BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah has clearly said that the Indian players will not visit Pakistan to play in Asia Cup 2023 under any circumstances. The threat to the security of Indian cricket team players is high when travelling to Pakistan, and this is the primary reason that the Indian team will not travel to Pakistan.

Asia Cup 2023 to be held in UAE?

Recently, Asian Cricket Council held a meeting in Bahrain which was attended by both Jay Shah and Najam Sethi to discuss the hosting rights of Asia Cup 2023. The discussions did not lead to any conclusions, and now another meeting is scheduled to take place in March 2023 to decide the venue for Asia Cup 2023.

However, the rumours are running rampant that Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi has said in the meeting that the Pakistan cricket team will not travel to India for the World Cup 2023 if India refuses to play the Asia Cup 2023 in Pakistan.

BCCI is saying that the Asia Cup 2023 will be played at a neutral venue like UAE. However, the final confirmation about the same will come in March 2023.
