The average first-innings score at Newlands is 151, indicating a good batting surface. Spinners have been outstanding at Newlands this tournament, taking the majority of wickets.

There is also plenty of support for the pacers, who took 58 percent of the wickets in both semi-finals. Given the importance of the game and the venue’s record in this tournament, both teams will prefer to bat first.
