Afghanistan once again showed sparks of brilliance in a tense game against the hosts Australia, losing by a mere 4 runs in what could have been the biggest upset of the tournament. Their players failed to step up in crucial moments of the game and suffered with inconsistency of the batting order but certainly entertained and sent some jitters down the Australian camp. Commentators too were in awe of what they witnessed and what could have been!
Mohammad Nabi the veteran T20 player shortly after the game, announced that he would be resigning from the captaincy but will be available for the country as a player should the management select him. He shared this news on his social media profiles through a letter, that stated his relationships with the management and board had turned sour and the preparations leading up to the tournament were unsatisfactory. Keeping in mind the team environment and atmosphere, he deemed fit to resign and make way for the next generation of Afghanistan cricketers, who will carry the baton forward.
As the T20I captain, Nabi has played 34 games with 16 wins and 18 losses, a win percentage of 47%. He has been a great servant to Afghanistan cricket and also made a big name for himself in the T20 circuit worldwide with fans all across. It is certainly a shame to see the now former captain revealing friction between him and management, which ahead of a big tournament can certainly be demotivating. He expressed his disappointment on their performance in the world cup and thanked the fans for showing up in large numbers to support the team. It is to be seen now if the Afghanistan Cricket Board moves past Nabi in the T20I format and looks to inject new blood or they bank on the veteran to come good once again.
Afghanistan won the toss and chose to bat in just their third game of the tournament, after rain spoiled their party on two occasions. Aaron Finch missed out due to a hamstring injury in what could possibly be his last T20I for Australia and Tim David sat out as well. In a surprising call, Mitchell Starc was dropped for Kane Richardson and Steve Smith replaced David in the line-up.
Australia opened with Green and Warner, who raced to 23 in two overs before Farooqi picked up the wicket of Green with a wonderful delivery, extracting good bounce. Warner too got off to a good, positive start before Naveen’s slower ball foxed him and his dear mate Steven Smith in the same over. Marsh was dropped on 19 off Gulbadin’s bowling and smashed his way to an entertaining 45(30). Maxwell and Stoinis accelerated well in the middle over, show casing their hitting prowess and Australia looked all set for a competitive total of 180. Mohammad Nabi and his experience was on display with his smart bowling changes and precise field placements. Afghanistan bowlers were able to stem the run flow in the end overs and restricted Australia to 168-8.
Afghanistan would have certainly fancied their chances and required the opening pair to attack and make use of the powerplay. They made their way to 47-2 at the end of 6 overs with Gulbadin and Ibrahim tasked to hold the fort and keep Afghanistan in the game. The middle overs are a key phase of the game and batters must ensure a high scoring rate. Gulbadin played some wonderful shots, building a great partnership with Ibrahim, ending 13 overs at 98/2. The fickle nature of this format increases the probability of a comeback for the opposition teams and Australia were able to strangle Afghanistan in a period of some poor cricket from Afghanistan. They lost 4 wickets in the space of 12 balls and at 106-6, it seemed that they let a great chance slip.
Rashid Khan, the local boy by all means, entered the Oval to huge cheers and was brimming with confidence. His swinging wrists have smacked many boundaries for Adelaide Strikers in the BBL and Rashid displayed his skills with the bat, taking the equation to 22 off 6. Wade handed the ball to Stoinis who had a fired-up Rashid Khan ahead of him that almost saw his team through what would have been an upset for the ages. Australia won the game by 4 runs and reached a maximum of 7 points, hoping that England fall prey to some Sri Lankan brilliance
The 2022 edition of the T20 World Cup will be celebrated and etched in the minds of the cricketing world. It has shown why this format is so beloved and the opportunity it provides to nations across the world to showcase their skills and compete against the absolute best in the business. England’s defeat to Ireland, Zimbabwe’s triumph against Pakistan and Namibia’s spirited display of skills were all magical moments.
New Zealand certainly could not afford to discount the Irishmen and needed to be charged on from the first ball, as a victory itself would not guarantee them a semi-final berth. Andrew Balbirnie won the toss and elected to bowl first, in a move to extract the seam and swing in the first few overs and push New Zealand on the backfoot. Finn Allen came out with great intent and attacked the bowlers, getting out on the last ball of the powerplay with the score reading 52/1. The skipper walked in with the field restrictions being lifted, which certainly with his poor strike rate and inability to accelerate was advantage Ireland. Devon Conway and Kane Williamson struggled to find the boundaries during a spell of tight and precise bowling by Ireland.
The eleventh over, the first after the drinks break has seen a trend of batters attacking and trying to score boundaries and skipper Williamson did just that to Fionn Hand, smashing 18 off his over. Conway fell shortly after and out walked the tournament hero for the Kiwis, Glenn Phillips who played his shots to an eventful 17(9) before hitting one straight to deep extra cover. Williamson continued to attack along with Daryll Mitchell and reached his fifty in style. In the process of going all guns blazing, New Zealand crumbled in the death as wickets tumbled, making their way to a total of 185-6.
Paul Stirling and Andrew Balbirnie, the two most experienced players in the squad started their innings on a great note with some crisp shots all over the ground. The scoreboard read 68-0 after 8 overs but the Kiwi spin twins, spun their web around the Irish batters with change pace and flight. They outfoxed the batters and shared 4 wickets between them, halting the chase before the fast-bowling duo of Ferguson and Southee closed out the game. The skipper took the player of the match award and New Zealand won by 35 runs in a great boost to their NRR, will fancy their chances of making the semis unless their neighbours pull off a heist for the ages!
Both the teams are entering into the game with the a loss in the previous encounter and will step out on the field with purpose. Brisbane Heat have looked a settled unit but faltered in the last couple of games and will fancy their chances against a Sydney Thunder side that has failed to deliver in the crunch moments. A win for Brisbane here will be important, keeping their hopes alive to enter the next stage. Let us now check out the ST-W vs BBH-W Fantasy Dream11 predictions for the game.

The conditions at the Bellerive Oval have traditionally supported both batter and bowler alike, with great assistance for the seamers in the first few overs. The average score on this ground is in the range of 120-130 which depicts that it may not be a belter of a pitch and a high scoring venue. ST-W vs BH-W: Dream 11 Top Picks
Danielle Wyatt: The right-handed wicketkeeper batter from England begun her season with great promise but has not been able to light up the BBL thus far. While she did muster a good innings in the previous encounter, Wyatt has been unable to break the shackles so far and will be raring to go against a side that has its own issues to deal with. Batting in the powerplay on this surface is a huge plus and Wyatt will be keen on notching up a good score.
Rachael Haynes: The Thunders skipper waged a lone battle in the last game against the sixers as the batters around her faltered. Haynes style of play is well suited to the pitch at the Hobart and her careful and watchful nature will ensure that she stays on the crease till the end, provided there is able support at the other end. With all to play for in the remaining games, it will need a captains knock to rally the dressing room to create something special.
Australia will be more concerned team of the two, with a potential ouster from the World Cup at home. They will need to win by a huge margin against Afghanistan in order to improve their NRR which took a big hit after the first game. Afghanistan have been unlucky with rain washing out two games and were unable to string in a good batting performance in the games they played but can leave the shores of Australia by spoiling their party and ending the tournament on a high.

The Adelaide Oval is a batters playground with the short square boundaries and true bounce. Spinners have generally struggled on this wicket and Afghanistan will have a task at their hand but will look to make use of the long boundaries down the ground. Aussie batters will be keen on racing to a quick start after their opening pair has failed consistently
The average temperature is expected to be around 20°C with cloudy skies and the forecast for rain remains non-threatening.
INJURY UPDATE
Injury concerns haunt the Aussie camp as both Skipper Aaron Finch and new sensation Tim David are nursing a hamstring injury, which could pave the way for Smith and Green in the XI with Matthew Wade taking captaincy duties.

AUS vs AFG: Dream 11 Top Picks
David Warner: The Aussie veteran is a big game player and this game is no different. With prestige and a world cup spot on the line, Warner will be raring to go and light the Oval on fire after a string of poor scores. Being the only left-handed batter in the top order, his presence becomes even more crucial given his ability to hit spin.
Rashid Khan: The leg-spinning genius may not have picked up a heap of wickets this tournament but has quietly gone onto do a great job stalling the flow of runs with his brilliant economy. His experience of playing on this ground from the BBL will be more than handy and the bounce on the wicket should give him assistance and extra zip. With the Aussie batting order being right-hand dominated, Khan’s overs will be the key difference between an average and above par total.

NZ vs IRE: Dream 11 Top Picks
Finn Allen: The young opener started his World Cup with a flier against Australia but has failed in the recent few matches. The conditions at The Oval are perfect for a batter and he would enjoy himself here as the team management will ask him to play freely.
Trent Boult: The Irish batting lineup is heavily loaded with right-hand batters and Trent Boult will be massive threat on a wicket that will offer something to the pacers. With this edition probably being his last World Cup, the stalwart will be looking to make an impact.

NZ vs IRE Dream 11 Match Prediction: Who Will Win?
New Zealand are the stronger team on paper and look most likely to win the game but this cup has thrown a lot of surprises.
The Proteas walked into the game as firm favorites after the exposure of Pakistanis batters’ weakness to pace and bounce. Babar Azam won the toss and elected to bat first, a sign of toughness and clear message of belief in his bowling arsenal to defend any target.
The openers once again struggled to come in terms with the fiery pace and seam, as both fell cheaply again, strengthening the worries at the top with the middle order finding itself in a bailout again. The score read 43-4 after 7 overs, with Iftikar and Nawaz steadied the ship, ensuring they didn’t lose any more wickets in a tense period of play. The middle order has carried the batting throughout the tournament and it rose to the occasion today, in a batting display of the highest quality. Iftikhar and Shadab broke loose and hammered their way to a competitive total of 185/9, with the help of rain and some shoddy fielding by the Proteas. Shadab Khan once again showed his batting prowess as he raced to the second fastest fifty by a Pakistani batter of just 20 balls and Iftikhar notched up his second fifty of the tournament, as he quietly walks under the radar and performs his role perfectly.
Rain threatened play continuously as the South African batters walked out with the mammoth chase ahead of them. Temba Bavuma has been under the scanner off late after a string of poor performances and the Pakistani bowling attack certainly packed a punch and a half but he turned his fortunes around after losing his partner cheaply, smacking Haris Rauf for a six, stroking his way to an eventful 36. Shadab Khan was brought into the atack and continued to have a great day, bagging two important wickets of Bavuma and Markaram before rain stopped play, bringing a disappointing halt to the game.
The DLS calculators were out and South Africa’s target was reduced to 142, effectively leaving them with 73 to chase in 5 overs. The Proteas needed to bat out of their skin to achieve such a high target with a weak batting line up and crumbled to some immaculate and precise bowling. Pakistan eventually applied their strangle and ended up winning the game by 33 runs, in a victory that would certainly send a wave of positive energy across the dressing room.
The Group of Death has lived up to its name with no team still qualifying and everything to play for in the last games, Group B has provided some entertaining and heartbreaking cricket. With all to play for, the last week of the group stages promises to be an enthralling experience
The two domestic sides have enjoyed a good run in build up to this match and both walk into this game on the back of very close encounters in the quarter finals. Vidarbha has won 5 games on the trot and are looking like a well oiled unit but interestingly, they did lose to Mumbai in the league stages, who will take confidence from that fact and look to steam roll their opponents on a wicket that will suit their players and style of batting. It promises to be an exhilarating game! Now let us dive into the MUM vs VID Dream 11 predictions for the game.

The Eden Gardens is known to be a batter-friendly ground with true pace and bounce in the wicket. There is great value for shots here, and spinners find it extremely hard on this surface. There will be movement on offer for the seamers in the first few overs, and teams will look to make inroads with the help of it, but batters will enjoy this ground and we may be in for a high-scoring thriller at the ground.
The average temperature is expected to be around 31°C with 53% humidity. There is no rain predicted and we look all set for a complete game, although the hot humid conditions will be tough to handle.

MUM vs VID: Dream 11 Top Picks
Prithvi Shaw: The swashbuckling opening batter will be a key player in the powerplay and can upset the line and lengths of bowlers quickly, which is crucial in the start as the ball does nip around. After a failure in the previous game, Prithvi will be eager to put in a big performance for his team in an all important semi final and the pitch will definitely suit his style of play.
Yash Thakur: The hero of the last game, who defended 11 runs in the last over and picked up two wickets that guided his team to a nerve wrecking 1 run victory will be brimming with confidence. On pitches that offer just a little bit of seam movement along with the skiddy bounce, his spell in the opening overs will be crucial for Vidarbha to put a full stop on the Mumbai onslaught.
Zimbabwe’s dream run seems to have hit a roadblock as the team suffered their second successive defeat in the super 12s, which all but knocks them out of the semi-final contention. Netherlands arrived in the game with nothing to lose and delivered a clinical performance against a buoyant Zimbabwe.
Overcast and gloomy, conditions were conducive for swing, with the Netherlands bowlers extracting great purchase from the surface. They had their opponents reeling at 20/3 by the end of the powerplay, a strong reply after the Zimbabwe skipper elected to bat first in tricky conditions. Sikandar Raza and Sean Williams steadied the ship and looked set to take their team to a competitive and defendable total but fell to some impeccable bowling by the Dutchmen. They picked up wickets at a consistent rate in the death overs and strangled the Zimbabwe batters to a below par score.
The opening batters needed to play with a mix of caution and attack, especially after seeing the movement on offer in the first few overs. Max O’Dowd and Tom Cooper played smartly, not taking risks after losing a quick wicket at the start. Max O’Dowd took his time to get in and eventually played some breath taking shots to guide his team closer to victory. Perhaps the inexperience and magnitude of the big stage played some part during the small stutter in their chase but Netherlands reached home in style as Bas de Leede hit the ball down the ground, taking them to their maiden victory in the super 12s this year.
Zimbabwe are all but ruled out of the top 2 spot in Group B and will be hurting that they couldn’t close out the key moments in what would’ve proved to be nothing short of a fairy tale run.
Match 29 of the Women Big Bash League will have the Hobart Hurricanes facing the team languishing at the bottom of the table, Melbourne Renegades. HB-W vs MR-W: Dream 11 Top Picks
Heather Graham: The all rounder has come to the party with the ball this season, picking up wickets regularly and was impeccable in their encounter versus the Sydney Thunders, who were bowled out for a meagre 95 chasing 144. The Hurricanes will need their all rounder to step up with the bat as well on a low scoring ground and ensure there are no hiccups in the process.
Carly Leeson: The batter has been in the only shining late in what has proven to be a really disappointing season for the Renegades. While the rest of the batting unit has failed to perform, Leeson has waged a lone battle, scoring bulk of her teams runs and will once again have an important role to play on a ground that makes stroke play tough.
