The forthcoming Asia Cup 2023 tournament is scheduled to take place from August 30 to September 17, 2023. Pakistan and Sri Lanka have assumed the roles of host countries for this prestigious event. Bangladesh is poised to initiate its campaign by facing Sri Lanka on August 31, 2023, at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele.
In a recent development, Tamim Iqbal has relinquished his position as ODI captain, primarily due to a back injury. Consequently, Tamim will not be participating in the upcoming Asia Cup. It has been reported that Shakib Al Hasan is set to become the full-time captain for the Bangladesh team.
The Bangladesh team is entering the Asia Cup 2023 with a formidable lineup. Under the leadership of Shakib Al Hasan, with Litton Das serving as the vice-captain, Bangladesh aims to clinch the title this time around.
Despite being a host of the Asia Cup on five occasions, Bangladesh has yet to secure the championship. Notably, the team has reached the finals thrice. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed Chandika Hathurusingha as the coach. Under the captaincy of Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangladesh team is gearing up for the Asia Cup 2023, which will feature the 50-overs format.
