Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer has called for a change in the Indian cricket team’s line-up for the fourth Test against Australia in Ahmedabad. Jaffer believes that KS Bharat should be replaced by the explosive Ishan Kishan, citing Bharat’s disappointing performance with the bat in the previous matches. Jaffer expressed his disappointment with Bharat’s returns, stating that he expected more from the middle-order batter, who has struggled to make a significant contribution in the series so far.
Jaffer believes that Kishan’s dynamic strokeplay could put the Australian spinners on the back foot and fill the void left by Rishabh Pant. Although Kishan also struggles against off-spin, Jaffer backs the youngster to play Pant’s role if he clicks. Kishan has impressive first-class statistics, scoring 2985 runs in 48 games at an average of 38.76 with six centuries and a healthy strike rate of 68.90.
Jaffer also shared his thoughts on the fitness status of Mohammed Shami, who was rested from the previous Test. Jaffer questioned whether Shami would be fit to play in the fourth Test and praised Umesh Yadav’s exceptional performance in Indore. Jaffer believes that India could play an extra batter in place of a seamer if the pitch spins too much and reverse swing is not available.
With Jaffer’s insights and predictions, cricket fans eagerly await the fourth Test in Ahmedabad to see if India will make the changes that Jaffer has recommended and turn the series in their favor.
