Snehasish Ganguly, the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), expressed his satisfaction with the schedule of the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023, set to be held in India. Snehasish Ganguly is confident about hosting Pakistan matches at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens with special security arrangements.

Eden Gardens has been chosen to host five crucial matches in the upcoming World Cup. The India-South Africa match will take place at this venue on November 5. If both teams qualify for the semifinals of the marquee tournament, Pakistan and India will face each other at the iconic stadium in Kolkata.

Snehasish Ganguly, the elder brother of Sourav Ganguly, expressed gratitude to BCCI secretary Jay Shah for allocating these pivotal matches in the mega event.

“We are pleased. I want to extend my gratitude to Jay Shah, BCCI, and the ICC. I have been working relentlessly for the past 4 months to secure these matches. We have presented our plans and designs. We have one of the best grounds in the IPL,” Snehasish Ganguly said.

“We never had any doubts about this. Such decisions involve various factors. Jay Shah assured me of good matches. I express my thanks to Mr. Jay Shah and the BCCI for recognizing the value of Eden Gardens,” he added.

Snehasish Ganguly acknowledged the challenges of organizing World Cup matches and emphasized that the security arrangements would be even more stringent during Pakistan matches compared to regular matches.

“We have already hosted India vs. Pakistan in T20Is. However, we will have two matches involving Pakistan. These matches are demanding. Organizing a World Cup is a challenging task. We are prepared to face any challenge. We have experienced fantastic crowds in all the IPL matches,” he further stated.

“I am highly confident about hosting the matches. Special security arrangements will be in place for Pakistan. I believe Pakistan has previously played in Kolkata. I am unaware of the internal details, but Kolkata is their first preference, followed by Chennai and Bengaluru. I have faith in the Kolkata Police. The security measures will surpass those of regular matches. I also have faith in CM Mamata Banerjee and her administration,” he concluded.

The Babar Azam-led Pakistan team will play their two league-stage matches at Eden Gardens. They will face Bangladesh on October 31 and England on November 12 at this stadium.
