Delhi Capitals made strategic moves in the IPL 2024 auction by securing the services of highly-rated South African batsman Tristan Stubbs and England star Harry Brook. The franchise, under the leadership of Rishabh Pant, aimed to bolster its squad with promising talent ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League season. Rishabh Pant is present at the IPL 2024 Auction in Dubai.
Delhi Capitals secured the highly-rated South African batsman Tristan Stubbs for a modest INR 50 lakhs in the IPL 2024 auction. The right-handed batsman had set his base price at INR 50 lakhs, and to the delight of the Delhi Capitals management, he managed to attract bids only from their side, resulting in a successful acquisition at his base price.
Tristan Stubbs’ journey in the IPL began in 2022 when he was drafted in by Mumbai Indians as an injury replacement for left-arm pacer Tymal Mills. Although his opportunities were limited in his debut season, playing only two games and scoring two runs, Stubbs was retained by Mumbai Indians for the 2023 season. However, he faced challenges breaking into the playing eleven, featuring in just two games and scoring 25 runs at a strike rate of less than 81.
Despite limited IPL exposure, Stubbs brings international and T20 experience to Delhi Capitals. With 59 T20 appearances and over 1100 runs, including four half-centuries, the South African middle-order batter adds depth to the Delhi Capitals’ batting lineup.

Delhi Capitals secured England star Harry Brook for INR 4 crores in the IPL 2024 auction, showcasing their keen interest in the right-handed batsman who had set a base price of INR 2 crores. The bidding process saw active participation from Rajasthan Royals, but they eventually conceded as Delhi Capitals secured Brook’s services for the upcoming season.
Harry Brook’s IPL journey began in 2022 when Sunrisers Hyderabad acquired him for a hefty sum of INR 13.25 crores. The right-handed batsman, known for his impressive performances in franchise cricket and the international arena, had showcased his talent with a century for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League.
While Brook’s IPL debut saw flashes of brilliance, including a century against Kolkata Knight Riders, he struggled to maintain consistency, finishing the tournament with a modest 190 runs in 11 matches. Released by Sunrisers Hyderabad, Brook now gets another opportunity with Delhi Capitals to prove his mettle in the IPL.
