Dhruv Jurel Father, Mother and Sister
Dhruv Jurel, born on January 21, 2001, hails from a family with a military background. His father, Nem Singh Jurel, served in the army and participated in the Kargil War of 1999. Despite his father’s desire for Dhruv to join the Indian army, the young cricketer, after completing his schooling, chose to pursue cricket.
Nem Singh Jurel supported his son’s passion, even sending him to swimming classes to enhance his stamina. Although Dhruv initially prepared for the National Defence Academy (NDA), his heart was set on cricket. In an old interview, Dhruv acknowledged that his father initially wished for him to join the army, but he opted for cricket after witnessing a boy playing the sport during swimming classes.
Despite facing initial resistance from his father, Dhruv convinced him of his dream to become a cricketer. He underwent training at the Springdale Cricket Academy in Agra and Aster Cricket Academy in Noida.
In another interview following his IPL debut, Dhruv Jurel shared a youthful lapse where, at 14, he demanded a costly Kashmir Willow bat, priced between Rs. 1500 and Rs. 2000. Unable to afford it, Dhruv resorted to locking himself in the bathroom and threatened to leave home if his parents didn’t fulfill his wish. To meet his demand, his mother sold her gold chain, a sacrifice Dhruv later admitted was a thoughtless act considering the family’s financial struggles.
Despite this embarrassing incident, Dhruv cherished the proudest moment of his life when his parents attended a match and his father exclaimed, “Teri sone ki chain vasool ho gayi” (“Your gold chain has been redeemed”).
Dhruv Jurel also has an elder sister who was married in February 2020. He posted photos of his sister and his brother-in-law on Instagram.
