Duanne Olivier Career

In February 2019, Duanne Olivier inked a Kolpak deal to join Yorkshire County Cricket Club in England, rendering him ineligible to play for South Africa during his contract. Despite this, Olivier expressed aspirations to represent the England cricket team in the future. When the Kolpak agreement concluded in 2021 due to Brexit, Olivier continued as an overseas player for Yorkshire and was subsequently picked for South Africa’s Test squad for their series against India.

Olivier’s cricketing prowess was evident early on, as he emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the 2016–17 Sunfoil Series with 52 dismissals. His outstanding performance earned him the title of First-class Cricketer of the Season at Cricket South Africa’s annual awards in May 2017. Additionally, he was named in Jo’burg Giants’ squad for the inaugural T20 Global League in August 2017, which unfortunately got postponed and later canceled.

Further showcasing his talent, Olivier joined Jozi Stars’ squad for the debut edition of the Mzansi Super League T20 tournament in October 2018, and later topped the wicket-taking charts for Knights in the 2018–19 CSA 4-Day Franchise Series.
