The eagerly anticipated IPL mini auction is set to take place in Mumbai on December 19, featuring ten franchises vying to optimize their remaining budgets as 1166 players go under the hammer.
Mumbai Indians, the five-time champions, retained the majority of their key players for the upcoming season. Notably, they traded Hardik Pandya for a substantial amount of 15 Cr and engaged in a deal with RCB, sending Cameron Green their way. In another transaction, they acquired Romario Shepherd from LSG through an all-cash deal worth 50 Lakhs.
Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians decided to part ways with non-performing players, including the injury-prone Jofra Archer, who had limited appearances during his two-year tenure. The franchise also released Tristan Stubbs, Riley Meredith, and Chris Jordan due to their prolonged underwhelming performances.
As Mumbai Indians approach the IPL 2024 auction, they have eight slots to fill, including four overseas positions, with a reasonable budget of INR 17.75 Crores.

Why Mumbai Indians will Bid for Gerald Coetzee in IPL 2024 Auction?
Mumbai Indians announced that Jofra Archer has been released from their squad as ECB is trying to manage his workload and he will miss the IPL 2024. The Rohit Sharma led team will look for a fiery pacer to partner Jasprit Bumrah. Gerald Coetzee recently showcased in the ODI World Cup 2023 that he can bowl consistently at around 150 km/ph. He also has the ability to land yorkers at this pace. Coetzee can also bat and make the batting line-up even longer for the Mumbai Indians. Therefore, it is a no-brainer for Mumbai Indians to go after Gerald Coetzee in the auction.
