On the night of May 12, the BCCI officially announced the revised schedule for the remaining matches of the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). IPL 2025 had been suspended for a week due to military tensions between India and Pakistan. Now that both countries have declared a ceasefire, the BCCI has decided to resume the tournament. The remaining matches of IPL 2025 will begin again from May 17, and the final will be played on June 3.
Good News for Punjab Kings
The schedule change has brought a stroke of good luck for Punjab Kings. This will be only the third time in IPL history that the final is being held in June. The previous two occasions were in 2008 and 2014, and coincidentally, Punjab Kings reached the playoffs in both those seasons. In 2008, Punjab made it to the semi-finals, and in 2014, they reached the final. With the IPL 2025 final also scheduled in June, fans are hopeful that this pattern continues, especially given Punjab Kings’ strong performance this season.
