IPL Mega Auction 2022 is wrapped up. The auction took place on 12 & 13 February 2022. Before the auction, Gujarat Titans had decided to pick Hardik Pandya & Rashid Khan for 15crores each and Shubman Gill for 7 crores as their 3 players to form the core of the team. Moreover, Hardik Pandya will be leading an IPL Franchise for the first time.
Players Gujarat Should Have Bought In IPL Mega Auction-
1) Jonny Bairstow
The star English batter could have been a better alternative to Jason Roy, considering his experience of playing more matches in IPL. He is a batter who can destroy the day of any bowler with his power-packed shots. The opener would have been a good pair with Shubman Gill to lay a solid opening foundation for the team.
2) Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Gujarat Titans have already ticked the spot of a spinner with Rashid Khan in their team. However, they lacked a good experienced international bowler, who could handle the pressure at such a big stage and Bhuvi has done it many times in the past for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He could have gelled well with Lockie Ferguson on the other end if he would have been picked by Gujarat Titans.
3) Ambati Rayudu
The middle-order batter has always lived up to his reputation. He has played top-class knocks in the middle for Chennai Super Kings whenever there was a collapse in the side. He holds an average of near to 30 in 175 IPL games at a strike rate of 127.5. He could have provided a better strength in the middle batting order of Gujarat.
4) Nathan Coulter-Nile
He has been associated with Mumbai Indians for a long time, thus Hardik Pandya knew his value quite well. Considering his stats of 48 wickets in 38 IPL games with an economy of 7.52. He could have proven to be an asset for the team with his batting abilities too.
5) Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer could have surely solved the headache of the number 3 batter in the line-up. However, too many bids for him made it considerably hard for Gujarat Titans to lay their hands on the services of Shreyas Iyer.
6) Nicholas Pooran
The Caribbean has been in exceptional form of late. He was the top scorer in the T20i series against England. We believe every team needs to have the power of a West Indian batter to pull off some miracles in batting. Therefore, Nicholas could have been one of their probable players for the number 4 spot in the batting order.
