Hashim Amla, a cricketing legend, has added to the buzz surrounding the 2023 ODI World Cup in India by sharing his predictions and wisdom. Amla’s illustrious career includes 8,113 ODI runs, 9,282 Test runs, and over 1,200 T20 international runs. While he captained the Proteas in Test cricket from June 2014 to January 2016, he retired from international cricket after the 2019 ODI World Cup. Nevertheless, his passion for the game and his deep insights continue to shine.

Amla recently disclosed his picks for the ODI World Cup 2023 semi-finalists in an interview with iol.com.za. With unwavering confidence, the 41-year-old named India, Pakistan, South Africa, and England as the likely contenders for the semi-finals. Amla’s selections reflected his vast experience and profound knowledge of the sport.

“I’ll go with India, Pakistan, South Africa, and England,” declared Amla.

But Amla’s contribution went beyond mere predictions. He also imparted a valuable piece of advice to his home team, South Africa. He encouraged the Proteas to stay focused on their game and to block out the distractions and external pressures that often accompany major tournaments.

“The loudest noise is the one in your head. So, you’ve got to keep track of your thoughts, pull yourself into the moment, and succeed in that moment,” advised Amla.

Regarding South Africa’s campaign in the 2023 World Cup, they are set to face Sri Lanka in their opening match on October 7. Temba Bavuma has been entrusted with the leadership role by the management for this crucial assignment.
