Former skipper of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team Mithali Raj sees at least three to four members of the triumphant Women’s U19 T20 World Cup squad graduating to the senior level.

India wins the U19 womens world cup

“The spinners and seamers have been very impressive and in both departments we need improvement at the senior level. It’s always good to have more options and build a solid pool of players.

Congratulations to the Indian Team for a special win at the @ICC #U19T20WorldCup. They have played excellent cricket and their success will inspire several upcoming cricketers. Best wishes to the team for their future endeavours. https://t.co/BBn5M9abHp

“When you compare to the highest level, there is obviously a bit of difference in terms of standards, technique and temperament at the U-19 level.

“We will have to work on them. And from what I saw in South Africa, they are really good,” Mithali Raj said.

Congratulations to Team India for winning the inaugural Under 19 Women’s T20 World Cup for Cricket! These talented young girls put up outstanding performance. These champions are an inspiration for our youth, especially the girls. The historic win has made India proud.

Going forward, she wants all members of the squad to work hard on the dome circuit. So, the three or four who are ready for the higher level can be slowly drafted into the national team.

Playing domestic cricket is very important for them and should not be neglected. WPL will also get them the exposure they need.

    CHAMPIONS! 🇮🇳

Congratulations #TeamIndia, this is a monumental achievement! This fantastic victory shows how dominating you have been throughout the tournament. The triumph is even more special considering this is the first-ever Women's #U19T20WorldCup. Cherish every moment! pic.twitter.com/M97kBJNcUs

“The next ODI World Cup is at home and we have not won a global event yet at the senior level. I am sure the BCCI is prioritizing that and will keep these players in the mix,” Mithali Raj added.
