According to reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) request to change venues for their ODI World Cup 2023 league matches has been denied by both the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC). The upcoming tournament is scheduled to be held in India in October-November, and Pakistan and India are set to face each other in a highly anticipated match. Pakistan had initially requested to switch venues for their games against Australia and Afghanistan.
As per Cricbuzz’s report, the ICC and BCCI held a meeting on June 20 and jointly conveyed their decision to the PCB. Pakistani media previously mentioned that Babar Azam’s team would play Afghanistan in Chennai and face Australia in Bengaluru according to the draft schedule. However, the PCB subsequently asked for a change in venues for these two matches.

According to the report, the ICC and BCCI stated that there is currently no valid reason to alter the venues. Any changes in venues can only be made with the approval of the ICC. Typically, venue changes are only considered if a particular venue is deemed unsuitable for cricket or if there are security concerns.
It is important to note that the official schedule for the ODI World Cup has not been released yet. The BCCI had previously sent a draft schedule to the cricket boards, and the complete schedule is expected to be announced next week during an event in Mumbai.
