The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for refusing to play matches in Ahmedabad and Chennai, leading to a delay in finalizing the schedule for the upcoming World Cup. The BCCI had previously announced that the tournament would be hosted solely by India in October, but the PCB has imposed certain conditions before confirming their participation.
Najam Sethi, a representative of the PCB, recently stated that they would like their match against India to be moved to a different venue than Ahmedabad and requested that the game against Afghanistan not be played in Chennai due to the spin-friendly nature of the Chepauk pitch.
A senior BCCI official strongly criticized the PCB’s demands and labeled them as signs of insecurity.

“Despite what the PCB says, they are the ones causing the delay in finalizing the World Cup schedule. First, they objected to playing in Ahmedabad, and now they are refusing Chennai. It shows their insecurity.”
Many believe that the PCB’s conditions stem from the fact that they had to relinquish their sole hosting rights for the tournament, as they will now co-host the Asia Cup alongside Sri Lanka.
