The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is scheduled to begin on October 5, marking its return to India after almost ten years. The tournament will feature ten participating nations.
As the mega event approaches, several veteran cricketers, including former Indian batter and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar, have started sharing their predictions and preferred strong squads for the teams. Manjrekar recently revealed his probable squad for India while speaking to a local media network.
In Manjrekar’s team, Rohit Sharma retains his position as the captain, and Shubman Gill maintains his spot as Rohit’s opening partner. Interestingly, Shikhar Dhawan makes a surprise entry into the 15-member squad, while Virat Kohli is included in the middle-order batters.

KL Rahul also makes his comeback to the Indian side. The squad further includes Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson. In the all-rounder category, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja find their place in Manjrekar’s team.
Regarding the bowlers, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal return to the Indian squad as spin options, while Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna are included as specialist seamers.
It is important to note that the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has not officially announced India’s team for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Additionally, some of the players selected by Manjrekar are currently in rehabilitation and recovering from injuries. The ICC has set August 29 as the deadline for squad submission.
