ICC T20 Rankings: Abhishek Sharma Makes a Big Leap, Reaches Career-Best Second Spot, Surpasses Tilak

India’s star batter Abhishek Sharma has made a massive jump in the latest ICC T20 rankings. He has reached his career-best second position among batters. Abhishek’s brilliant century in the fifth T20I against England played a crucial role in this achievement, helping him climb 38 places in the rankings. His rise to second place pushed Tilak Varma down to third. Meanwhile, Travis Head remains the No. 1 T20I batter.

Top 10 T20I Batters

Travis Head leads the rankings with 855 rating points, followed by Abhishek Sharma (829 points) and Tilak Varma (803 points). Phil Salt is in fourth place with 798 points, while India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav is in fifth place with 738 points. The next five players in the rankings are Jos Buttler, Babar Azam, Pathum Nissanka, Mohammad Rizwan, and Kusal Perera. Due to Abhishek’s jump, all players from rank nine downward have lost one position.

Meanwhile, India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal has dropped three places and is now ranked 12th, exiting the top 10. Abhishek’s impressive knock of 135 runs off 54 balls, including 13 sixes, in the fifth T20I against England helped India secure a 4-1 series victory. He is now just 26 rating points behind the No. 1 ranked Head.

T20I Bowlers’ Rankings

In the bowling rankings, India’s Varun Chakravarthy has also made significant progress. He was named the Player of the Series against England, finishing as the highest wicket-taker with 14 wickets. His excellent performance earned him a place in India’s squad for the upcoming ODI series against England. In the latest rankings, Varun has jumped three places to reach a career-best joint second position alongside England’s Adil Rashid. Both have 705 rating points, while West Indies’ Akeal Hosein leads the rankings with 707 points. Wanindu Hasaranga and Adam Zampa are in fourth and fifth positions, respectively.

India’s Ravi Bishnoi has also climbed one spot to reach sixth place with 671 rating points. With Varun, Bishnoi, and Arshdeep Singh (ranked ninth), India now has three bowlers in the top 10. However, Arshdeep has slipped one position from eighth to ninth. Axar Patel has also dropped from 11th to 13th place. Former No. 1 Adil Rashid has fallen to second place, while Jofra Archer has dropped four places from sixth to 10th.
