Virat Kohli had the privilege of meeting legendary cricketer Brian Lara in Port of Spain ahead of the second Test against West Indies. During Team India’s practice session, the former Indian captain exchanged greetings with Lara. Unfortunately, their conversation was brief as the Caribbean superstar was occupied on a phone call. Kohli warmly embraced Lara and continued towards the pavilion.
Kohli is preparing for the second Test, scheduled to commence on July 20. Prior to the game, India had a practice session at Queen’s Park Oval, which experienced incessant rain delays. With a 1-0 lead in the two-match series, the visitors currently sit atop the World Test Championship (WTC) points table. Their aim is to strengthen their position at the top with another victory.
In the previous match in Dominica, Kohli showcased his resilience by scoring a gritty 76. Although not in his fluent form, the right-handed batsman played a crucial role in helping India establish a substantial lead in the first innings.

The upcoming second Test presents an opportunity for the former Indian captain to break multiple records. It will mark Kohli’s 500th international match since his debut in 2009. With 110 Tests, 274 ODIs, and 115 T20Is under his belt, the 35-year-old is on the verge of surpassing the legendary Jacques Kallis’ record of 25,534 runs in 617 innings.
Currently, Kohli has accumulated 25,461 runs in 558 innings. He needs just 73 runs in the second Test to surpass Kallis’ milestone.
Not only does Kohli have a chance to surpass Kallis, but he also has an opportunity to surpass Virender Sehwag’s record for the most Test runs. Kohli is just 31 runs away from surpassing Sehwag’s tally of 8,536 runs. In the second Test, Kohli will be determined to score big runs after missing out on a century in the first Test.
