As per a report in the Indian Express, the Indian team have asked for a rank turner for the 1st Test starting on February 9.

Yesterday the pitch looked green with some brown patches. However, today most of the grass has been trimmed off and the brown layer has been exposed.

Turning tracks have always been the feature of Indian Tests, and India are sticking to their guns.

With almost two days for the series to begin, it’s safe enough to think that the pitch will be trimmed off more and the brown spinning wicket will be exposed.

“We want to maximize our advantage and prepare turners. Spinners are our biggest strength and we should give them the best conditions to bowl and get wickets,” a source in the team told Indian Express.

In 2015, all 20 South African wickets were taken by spin in Nagpur. In the most recent Test here, against Sri Lanka in 2017, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja each claimed eight and five wickets, respectively.
