Star Australian batsman Glenn Maxwell made a stunning comeback to competitive cricket, smashing a half-century in his first fixture since his injury.
Glenn Maxwell was out of competitive Cricket for nearly 3 months after suffering a fracture to his leg at a friend’s party in November 2022.
Glenn Maxwell played for his club outfit Fitzroy-Doncaster in the Victorian Premier Cricket fixture on the weekend and scored 61 runs off 92 balls.
Maxwell’s return to form has put him in contention for selection for the upcoming three-match ODI series against India in March. “If Maxwell can prove his fitness, then he might be considered for the upcoming 3 ODIs against India next month,” reported cricket.com.au.
Maxwell’s injury prevented him from playing in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
“To bring a player of Glenn’s calibre into the squad is exciting, he has a fantastic record in Shield cricket and it’s a shame he hasn’t been able to play more of it,” said David Hussey, Cricket Victoria’s head of male cricket on Saturday as quoted by News18.
However, the all-rounder did not bowl in the match, and his bowling fitness is still being assessed.
