Steve Smith, the vice-captain of the Australian cricket team in the longest format of the game got a look at the Nagpur Stadium pitch which is going to be used for the 1st between India and Australia.

Known as a good reader of pitch, Steve Smith came out with his verdict on the Nagpur Stadium pitch just by looking at it for a few minutes. He thinks that Nagpur’s pitch is skiddy and slow and the left-handers will find themselves in trouble against the spinners.

“Pitch is very high, at least one end, spinning in for our left-handers. I think it will be a bit skiddy, and slow but not entirely sure,” said Steve Smith after assessing the Nagpur Stadium pitch for the 1st Test between India and Australia.

A few days earlier, Steve Smith had called the Border Gavaskar Trophy bigger than the Ashes. “It’s a difficult place to win… a test match let alone a test series. So you know if we’re able to topple that mountain that would be huge. I think if we can win India that would be bigger than an Ashes series,” Smith said.
