The current Team India has been seen struggling against spin on several occasions. Hence, they don’t want to leave any stone unturned against Australia whose spin department, apart from Nathan Lyon, may not look very experienced, but has the ability to expose India’s weakness to spin on the spin-friendly Indian pitches.
India’s spin problem:
Rohit Sharma: 25 in 57 (Spin dismissal)
Cheteshwar Pujara: 50 in 122 innings
Virat Kohli: 57 in 130
KL Rahul: 19 in 38
Shubman Gill: 8 in 16
As a result, Dravid has brought in a whopping 10 spinners to help Team India face Nathan Lyon & Co. After calling up Washington Sundar, Rahul Chahar and Saurabh Kumar, Jayant Yadav and Pulkit Narang have also been called as net bowlers ahead of IND AUS Nagpur Test.
Spinners in India camp Nagpur:
- Ravichandran Ashwin (Off-spinner)
- Ravindra Jadeja (Left-arm spinner)
- Axar Patel (Left-arm spinner)
- Kuldeep Yadav (Leg-spinner)
- Saurabh Kumar (Left-arm spinner)
- Jayant Yadav (Off-spinner)
- Pulkit Narang (Off-spinner)
- Sai Kishore (Left-arm spinner)
- Rahul Chahar (Leg-spinner)
- Washington Sundar (Off-spinner)
India have 4 spinners in their squad for the Australia Test. Whereas the Aussies have brought in 4 spinners while 3 more can roll up their sleeves and bowl spin. Hence, India won’t have it easy.
