For India, Mohammed Shami delivered a sensational bowling performance. He picked up five wickets, setting multiple records along the way. Shami became the fastest bowler in ODI history to reach 200 wickets in the fewest balls. He broke Mitchell Starc’s record, who had taken 5240 deliveries to reach 200 wickets, while Shami achieved the milestone in just 5126 balls.
Shami’s figures read 5 for 53 in 10 overs, making it the fifth time he has taken a five-wicket haul in an ICC ODI tournament.

Shami Breaks Zaheer Khan’s Mega Record
By taking five wickets against Bangladesh, Shami surpassed Zaheer Khan’s long-standing record to become India’s highest wicket-taker in ICC ODI tournaments. Shami now has 60 wickets, surpassing Zaheer’s 59 wickets.

A Historic Champions Trophy Debut
Shami, playing in his first-ever Champions Trophy, became the first Indian bowler and only the second in the world to take a five-wicket haul on debut in the tournament. The only other bowler to do so was Josh Hazlewood, who had taken six wickets in his Champions Trophy debut.
Shami is now the only Indian fast bowler to take a five-wicket haul in both the ICC ODI World Cup and the Champions Trophy, further cementing his legacy in world cricket.
