Wasim Jaffer is known for being highly active on social media and giving out his opinions on everything related to the cricketing world. The former Indian cricketer has made a bold suggestion for the 3rd T20I between India and New Zealand.
Jaffer believes that Shaw could be more useful than Gill in the shortest format of the game. Wasim Jaffer said, “If India consider a change, maybe Prithvi Shaw could come in for Shubman Gill because he is in a good form and is better suited for T20 cricket. But otherwise, I’m not concerned a lot about Ishan Kishan and Rahul Tripathi.”
Jaffer said this in an interview with ESPC Cricinfo. He further made comments about Yuzvendra Chahal. According to him, India should stick with Yuzvendra Chahal in the 3rd T20I against New Zealand instead of Umran Malik as he is still quite inexperienced.
Jaffer said, “It would be better to have Yuzvendra Chahal as New Zealand struggle against spinners and if there is a wrist-spinner, India must utilize it. As I mentioned previously, Umran Malik struggles in T20 cricket. He is yet to learn the variations needed to succeed in this format. So, in that way, Chahal is a better option.”
India will play the 3rd T20I at Ahmedabad Stadium from 7PM IST on 1st February 2023 against New Zealand. Both teams have won one match each in the series so far.
