ICC Unveils Umpires and Referees for the Highly Anticipated Encounter

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has disclosed the list of umpires and match officials for the much-awaited clash between India and Pakistan in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, as reported by Times of India (TOI). The tournament is scheduled to take place from August 30th to September 17th, featuring a total of 13 matches, with 4 matches set to be held in Pakistan and 9 in Sri Lanka.

The tournament opener will witness Pakistan locking horns with Nepal in Multan. The on-field umpires for this match will be England’s Chris Gaffaney and Masudur Rahman. Meanwhile, Australia’s David Boon has been designated as the match referee for the inaugural game.

In the second match, scheduled for August 31st between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in Pallekele, India’s J Madangopal will take up the role of one of the on-field umpires, with Javgal Srinath acting as the match referee.

The eagerly awaited clash between India and Pakistan, which is set to take place in Kandy on September 2nd, will have Richard Illingworth and Ruchira Palliyaguruge serving as the on-field umpires. Additionally, Australia’s Paul Wilson will fulfill the role of TV umpire, with Javgal Srinath as the match referee for this high-profile encounter.

On September 4th, the match between India and Nepal in Pallekele will have Paul Wilson alongside Ruchira Palliyaguruge as the on-field umpires. Following these matches, the tournament will proceed to the Super 4 stage, for which the list of umpires and officials will be announced in due course. The contest between India and Pakistan remains a highlight, promising to captivate cricket enthusiasts worldwide.
