In his very first over, Rohit hit Shaheen for a six and launched an assault on Shadab, hitting him for two sixes and a four early in his spell. Rohit scored 56 runs from 49 balls and achieved his fourth century stand with Gill in 12 innings. Shubman Gill also reached his eighth ODI fifty.

Rohit was dismissed while attempting to chip Shadab Khan, caught at long-on by Faheem Ashraf. Pakistan finally made a breakthrough in the 17th over when Rohit was dismissed. In the 18th over, Shaheen dismissed Gill, providing Pakistan with two crucial breakthroughs following the 121-run opening partnership. Upon returning to the pavilion, Virat Kohli congratulated Rohit Sharma on his impressive innings.

Starting with the India-Pakistan match, all remaining games in the Asia Cup 2023 will be held in Colombo. There is a 90 percent chance of rain in this match, which could potentially disrupt an India vs. Pakistan game once again. However, rain has stayed away so far. In fact, there has been no rain in Colombo since the SL vs. BAN match on Saturday.

For India, KL Rahul and Jasprit Bumrah have returned to the squad. Rahul missed the first two games for India due to a minor injury, while Bumrah was absent due to the birth of his son. Rahul replaced Shreyas Iyer, who is sidelined with a back spasm, and Bumrah took the place of Mohammed Shami in the XI.
