Result: West Indies won by 24 runs. Player of the Match: Shai Hope.

Hope and Rutherford Set Up a Huge Total

West Indies batted first and also gained from 18 extras. Jewel Andrew scored 21 off 16 balls before Axar Patel removed him. Shimron Hetmyer hit 22 off 12 balls and fell to a return catch by Prince Yadav. Rovman Powell made 24 off 17 balls and was dismissed by Arshdeep Singh.

Through all of this, Hope stayed at the crease. He finished on 102 not out, his second hundred of the series after his unbeaten 102 in the 2nd T20I at Ranchi. Rutherford then closed the innings with 49 not out off 26 balls, a strike rate of 188.46. The three wickets that fell cost West Indies little, as the partnerships kept the run rate high through the last overs.

Samson Gives India a Flying Start

India needed 248 to win and Samson attacked from the start, hitting 56 off 23 balls at a strike rate of 243.48. Abhishek Sharma scored 29 off 24 balls, Ishan Kishan was out for 0 off 3 balls and Shreyas Iyer made 16 off 11.

Tilak Varma hit 43 off 25 balls and Nitish Kumar Reddy added 41 off 20, but India kept losing wickets. Paul finished with 5/41, Gudakesh Motie took 2/13 in two overs and Romario Shepherd took 2/32 in three overs. India’s 223 matched their total in the 3rd T20I at Indore, where it was enough to win by 14 runs. Here it left them 24 runs short.
