    India and Australia are going to play the first match of upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test Series from 9th February 2023 at VCA Stadium in Nagpur. The four match Test series will play a significant role in deciding the finalists for World Test Championship 2023. Currently, India holds the title of Border-Gavaskar Trophy winners with an ultimate win in the last Test series between the two teams.

    Since their first meeting in 1947-48, India and Australia have played in 27 Test series. Australia leads the way with 12 series victories to India’s 10, with five series drawn.

    India has hosted Australia in 14 Test series, with an 8-4 record, with two series drawn.

    The Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been played in eight of these Test series in India, with the hosts holding a 7-1 series lead and a 16-5 win-loss ratio across the 25 Tests played on their home soil.

    Australia’s lone series win in India during that time period came in 2004-05, when the visitors won two of the first three Tests in the four-match series while regular skipper Ricky Ponting was injured.

    India has won the last three Test series between the two teams, winning at home in 2016-17 and away in 2018-19 and 2020-21.
